In 2016, MetalForming launched its Women of Excellence (WoE) recognition program to promote women in the manufacturing workplace and help address workforce shortages. Now in its 9th year, the program continues to highlight the incredible contributions of women in the manufacturing and fabricating industries. This year’s honorees include 61 women from the United States, Canada, and Mexico, representing a wide range of job titles and roles within manufacturing companies. The impressive number of nominations reflects the significant impact that women continue to make in the manufacturing world.
One such standout is Jalonna Ross, an inspiring example of growth, dedication, and leadership in the manufacturing field. Jalonna joined The Bradbury Company as an electrician seven years ago, starting with limited experience but a strong desire to learn and succeed. Since then, she has made remarkable strides in her career, continuously demonstrating a commitment to advancing her skills and leadership abilities.
Jalonna’s journey began with her decision to take the initiative and complete all of her Tooling U courses on her own time, showcasing her dedication to self-improvement. This proactive approach did not go unnoticed, and in 2019, she was promoted to Electrician 1. By 2020, her technical expertise and hard work led to another promotion to Electrician 2, and in 2022, she took on the role of Assembly Electrical Team Leader.
But Jalonna’s commitment didn’t stop there. In 2023, she completed the Bradbury Leadership Development Program, a year-long course that focused on leadership principles and personal and professional growth. The skills she gained through this program now resonate with Bradbury’s core values and are integral to her leadership style today.
In her current role as Assembly Electrical Team Leader, Jalonna oversees the assembly of electrical systems and components, ensuring her team has everything they need to meet project requirements. Her leadership ensures that high standards are consistently upheld within the electrical department, and her ability to keep everything running smoothly is a testament to her technical expertise and organizational skills.
Jalonna’s contributions extend beyond her immediate role, too. She actively participates in Bradbury’s Manufacturing Day tours each year, where she volunteers at the assembly career station to answer questions and inspire over 300 students annually to explore careers in manufacturing. Her commitment to shaping the future of the industry is evident in her willingness to mentor and motivate the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
Jalonna’s technical skills and collaborative approach have earned her praise from multiple customers, who value her expertise in Bradbury lines and her proactive willingness to assist whenever needed. Her dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction has made her a trusted representative of The Bradbury Co. in the eyes of clients.
One individual shared, “Jalonna is an incredible example of how someone can rise through the ranks with determination and dedication. She is a team player, always willing to take time to train others. She has traveled to customers' facilities to represent our company and assist with customer service, and she also plays an active role in recruiting new hires at local career fairs and college job fairs.”
Jalonna’s story is a powerful example of how women can excel in manufacturing, break through barriers, and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Her dedication to advancing her career, inspiring others, and contributing to the success of The Bradbury Co. makes her a true role model for women in the manufacturing industry. Congratulations to Jalonna for being recognized as a part of this year’s Women of Excellence!
