Bradbury is always at the leading edge of innovation and productivity, constantly pursuing new ways to enhance our machining capabilities. In our plant 1 facility, which houses the majority of our machining tools, we recently dove deeper into the functionality of one particular machine. The DN Solutions Puma 5100LYB, this machine has revolutionized our processes by replacing the tedious tasks of Bored and Faced roll tolling, as well as turning and parting off spacers. This cutting-edge machine boasts a multitude of improvements, including live tooling and a Y axis. As well as, its larger size, being a 2-meter machine, enables us to handle parts of up to approximately 79 inches in length, a significant upgrade from our previous machine which was limited to 1 meter.
The incorporation of live milling capabilities has truly transformed our operations. We can now run arbors, feed rolls, and other shaft-type components that require intricate milling details. Additionally, this machine empowers us to implement the innovative practice of milling part numbers directly onto the parts themselves, eliminating the need for manual steel stamping. This breakthrough has not only streamlined our processes but also allowed us to consolidate work from four other work centers, significantly enhancing our overall production efficiency.
"The Puma 5100LYB has opened up the ability to move work from four other work centers to aid in production efficiency. It is brand new so we look forward to proving out its capabilities and broadening the type of parts we can run at Bradbury " says Jerod Larson, Plant 1 Production Manager at Bradbury.
As the DN Solutions Puma 5100LYB is still new to our facility, we anticipate exploring its full potential and expanding the range of parts we can manufacture at Bradbury. The Puma 5100LYB machine currently operates for 44 hours per week. However, in order to maximize its capabilities, this machine will be running 80-90 hours per week in the near future.
With our commitment to innovation and dedication to productivity, Bradbury looks to continue to strive for excellence in the manufacturing industry. The introduction of the DN Solutions Puma 5100LYB is just one example of our pursuit of cutting-edge technology and improved manufacturing processes.
