This year, Bradbury is lucky to have 2 bright Welding Interns. In the third edition of our Series of Summer Intern Posts, we feature Chris Leddy and Jeremy Hett.
Chris recently graduated from Moundridge High School and plans to attend Hutchinson Community College in the fall where he will major in Welding. He will continue working for us as an apprentice to further advance his skills while taking classes. He also has hopes of completing a machining certificate with HCC. Chris said that during his internship he has learned many procedures and processes that he believes will help him when he starts college, such as fit-up procedures, fabrication processes, the importance of his gun angle and keeping things square. He said his favorite part has been seeing his work be put to use. In his past retail and fast food jobs, he didn't have the reward of seeing how his work fit into the big picture of the company. Chris also said how he appreciated the training he received from Weld Team Leader, Tim Goossen and his coworkers.
Jeremy Hett just completed his first year at North Central Kansas Technical College as a Welding Student. In the fall, he will be attending Fort Hays State to obtain his associate's degree in Welding Engineering Technology. Jeremy said that his schooling definitely paid off when it came to his success as an intern at Bradbury. He also gained a lot of real-world experience working on true production projects for the company. Jeremy said that learning the proper techniques and tips and tricks for checking squareness and precision was valuable. He was glad he accepted this internship offer over another because of the variety of work he was tasked with. He said his favorite part about Bradbury has been the family atmosphere.
Bradbury wishes these two welders the best in their future endeavors!
